Matchstick Creative Co.
Identity Development • Web Design & Development • Content Strategy & "Voice" Development

Matchstick Creative Co. is a new brand for marketing in Calgary; it is a subsidiary of my employer Neota Corp. Matchstick handles small projects with a quick turnaround time; this includes web design and development, graphic design, branding, and similar projects. I was tasked with naming and developing the identity of this new brand, which included web design, logo design, business card design, and overall strategy. The brief was to create an identity that was modern, yet authentic, stressing quick but quality, handmade work. (Note: I generally don't care for the term "handmade" to describe digital work, but it's important to note that none of our solutions include templates or pre-made pieces.)

I chose "Matchstick" because I liked the idea of using our work to light a fire under our clients and their own ideas. A neat photo I found of a few cowboys lighting a fire seemed to emphasize our ideals perfectly, and we've used that on much of our material. Our logo uses a combination of Wisdom Script and Futura, while our copy uses Proxima Nova, which I felt was a strong indicator of our goals of moving quickly with thoughtful work.
